Before 8th Dhul Hijjah

1. Entering the Sacred State of Ihram

At the boundary (Meeqat), pilgrims perform ghusl, don the two unstitched white sheets (men) or modest Islamic dress (women), declare Niyyah for Hajj, and begin reciting the Talbiyah continuously.

8th Dhul Hijjah

2. Day of Tarwiyah — Tent City of Mina

Pilgrims travel from Makkah to the tent city of Mina in the morning. Here they perform Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and Fajr prayers while remaining in deep supplication and mental preparation.

3. The Standing at Mount Arafat (Wuquf)

The core pillar of Hajj ("Hajj is Arafah"). Pilgrims gather on the plains of Arafat from noon until sunset, seeking forgiveness, reciting Quran, and offering emotional Duas at the Mount of Mercy.

Night of 9th – 10th Dhul Hijjah

4. Night at Muzdalifah

After sunset at Arafat, pilgrims travel to Muzdalifah without praying Maghrib on the way. At Muzdalifah, Maghrib & Isha are offered combined, pebbles are gathered for Rami, and pilgrims rest under the open sky.

Pilgrims return to Mina to throw 7 pebbles at Jamarat al-Aqaba, perform the animal sacrifice (Qurbani), and shave (Halq) or trim (Taqsir) their hair, completing the initial exit from Ihram (Tahallul Asghar).

10th – 11th Dhul Hijjah

6. Tawaf al-Ifadah & Sa'i in Makkah

Pilgrims proceed to Masjid al-Haram to perform the obligatory Tawaf al-Ifadah around the Holy Kaaba, followed by Sa'i between the hills of Safa and Marwah, achieving full completion of Ihram restrictions.
